Vladimiovo at ORPR Camp

The fourth Sunday of July marks the annual parents weekend and Vladimirovo celebration at our ORPR diocesan youth camp. This year Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, Locum Tenens of the Diocese of Chicago & Mid-America, presided at the Divine Liturgy, at which he ordained Reader Victor Vukovic a Subdeacon and Deacon for service at the St. Innocent of Moscow parish in Whteaton, Illinois.

The choir of campers sang beautifully under the director of Peter Jermihov, and virtually everyone partook of Holy Communion on this auspicious day, the first visit of Archbishop Gabriel to ORPR camp.

Following the Divine Liturgy the camp schedule proceeded as usual, with the morning formation, the singing of the Preobrazhensky March, and on this day the promotion of ORPR’s Program Director, Varvara Ladage, to Instructor.

A festive meal for the clergy and campers was then held in the camp dining hall. After the meal His Eminence was given a tour of the camp an had the unexpected opportunity to interact with several of the local parishioners. The Vladimirovo celebrations were then held under the open sky. Following the children’s performance Archbishop Gabriel began his journey to Ann Arbor, Michigan where he will preside at that parish’s feast day on Monday, July 28.
