Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon visits St. Sergius Cathedral
On the weekend of October 16-17, St. Sergius Cathedral was blessed to welcome the Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon of the Mother of God from Hawaii.  The Icon was met by the Cathedral Dean, Fr. Ilia Marzev, before the start of the Vigil.  During the Vigil, the Akathist to the Mother of God was chanted, and the keeper of the Icon, Reader Nectarios, told everyone about the history of the Icon.  The following morning, the Icon was present at the Cathedral for the Divine Liturgy during which many people continued to come and venerate the Icon.  Following the Liturgy, a procession with the Icon was held around the Cathedral.  Throughout the early afternoon, many Orthodox faithful came to venerate the Icon following the Liturgy at their own parishes.  This was the first stop of the Icon on this particular journey.   For more information about this Icon, please visit http://orthodoxhawaii.org/icons.html
