Archpastoral visit of His Grace Bishop Peter to Holy Virgin Protection Church in Goshen, IN

Holy Virgin Protection Russian Orthodox Church in Goshen, Indiana, celebrated its patronal feast on Friday, October 14.  The following weekend, this small, but vibrant, parish was graced by an archpastoral visit of two hierarchs, Their Graces Bishop Peter and Bishop George.

Bishop George of Mayfield led the parish in All-night Vigil on Saturday evening, together with Priest Daniel Marshall, rector of the parish, and Subdeacon Nikon (Provotakis), who assisted Vladika.  The assembled choir sang under the guidance of Reader Timothy Tadros.

Sunday, the sixteenth of October, was the first time the parishioners witnessed two hierarchs concelebrating Divine Liturgy in their church.  Bishop Peter led the service together with Bishop George.  They were accompanied by Priests Daniel Marshall and Peter Sgoba, and assisted by Deacon Alexander Kichakov.  Subdeacon Alexander Petrovsky led the choir.  Bishop Peter warmly greeted Bishop George, who delivered the homily.  The attending faithful numbered eighty-eight, a parish record, according to the rector.

Afterward, the assembled clergy and laity enjoyed a delicious festive meal lovingly prepared by the efforts of the sisterhood.

Glory be to God in all things!

Reader Nikolai Lochmatow
