Bishop Peter celebrates the Feast of the Entry of the Mother of God into the Temple at St. Vladimir's Church

On Sunday, the fourth of December, His Grace Bishop Peter celebrated the Feast of the Entry of the Mother of God by serving hierarchal Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir Church in Vladimirovo, (Rock City) IL.  Concelebrating with Vladika was Archpriest John Sykaluk, rector of the parish.  Bishop Peter was assisted by Subdeacon Nicholas Hantel, Reader Andrei Urtiew and Arsenios Corbishley, all from Chicago.

The parish sisterhood prepared a warm meal for the clergy and faithful.  Afterward, Bishop Peter presided at the annual meeting of the parish brotherhood, at which sixteen enthusiastic new members were accepted into the parish.  A parish council was subsequently elected, charged with addressing issues concerning care for the church.

St. Vladimir's Church is the spiritual center for the village of Vladimirovo, a small hamlet situated on man-made Lost Lake.  The church stands to the west of the lake, surrounded by diocesan property dedicated to our summer youth camps and retreat activities.  On the eastern side of the lake are private residences, including summer cottages and year-round homes.  Situated due west of Rockford, IL, Vladimirovo is less than two hours' drive from Chicago and less than an hour south of Madison, WI.

Glory be to God in all things!
