Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan Serves in Detroit

With the blessing of His Eminence, Archbishop Peter of Chicago & Mid-America, His Grace, Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan led the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in Ferndale (Detroit), MI on the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women: April 29/May 12, 2019. Serving with His Grace were:

Archpriest Roman Star, St. Innocent Church in Redford, MI

Archpriest Viktor Trotskyy, Rector of the Dormition Cathedral

Archpriest Gregory Joyce, St. Vladimir Church in Ann Arbor, MI (Dean of ROCOR MI Parishes)

Deacon Ioann Feloniuk, Cleric of Dormition Cathedral

Deacon Dmitriy Kashchenko, Cleric of St. Vladimir Church in Ann Arbor, MI

Singing at the Divine Liturgy was a combined choir from the Dormition Cathedral and St. Vladimir Church. Bishop Nicholas delivered a homily on the Myrrh-Bearing Women, Sts. Joseph & Nicodemus (who are also commemorated on this day) and their example for us in our days.

Following the Divine Liturgy Fr. Gregory Joyce welcomed Bishop Nicholas to the Diocese of Chicago & Mid-American on behalf of Archbishop Peter. Bishop Nicholas in return thanked Archbishop Peter for blessing him to serve at Dormition Cathedral and shared his impressions of the great change in the Cathedral interior since his last visit some years ago as a Deacon when accompanying the late Metropolitan Laurus to Detroit.

After the veneration of the Cross the faithful gathered in the Cathedral Hall for a meal prepared by the Brotherhood of the Cathedral.
