On Sunday, November 24 Archbishop Peter was met by the cadre of ORPR campers of the parish with the traditional bread and salt. After having been vested in the midst of the parish church, His Eminence tonsured second year seminarian of Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, NY David Borg a Reader for eventual service at the St. Vladimir parish. Reader Rupert (Kyle) Lanterman was elevated to Subdeacon also for service at the St. Vladimir parish. At the small entrance Fr. Moses was awarded the right to wear the purple skufia for his sincere service to the Holy Church. HIs Eminence preached on the Gospel of the day, giving the gathered faithful several practical steps they can take in the coming week to draw nearer to the Lord.

Following the Divine Liturgy the parish’s St. Xenia Sisterhood provided a bountiful meal for those gathered for the festivities. That same evening Archbishop Peter led the parish’s Young Adult Group at their monthly meeting.

The next day, on his return trip to Chicago Archbishop Peter visited one of the retired priests of the Michigan Deanery, Fr. Vasily Melnyk.

The parishioners of St. Vladimir parish are very thankful to their Archpastor for his spiritual care for them, and especially thank him for providing the parish a new Reader and Subdeacon for their parish. With God’s help the parish hopes to complete a day school for the Orthodox children in this part of Michigan. More information about this project can be found at this link:
