Statement from the Diocesan Office on the Landfall of Hurricane Laura in the Diocese of Chicago & Mid-America

Early in the morning of August 14/27, 2020 Hurricane Laura made landfall in Louisiana, one of the states of our diocese. We ask the prayers of the faithful for those who are suffering from the storm: those who will be injured, those who will die, and those who are helping the suffering and the dead. Many people will lose all material possessions from the destruction wrought by this natural disaster, and we encourage those who are in a financial position to do so to make contributions to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) for the relief effort:

IOCC has first responder teams already in place and this will be one of the first charities working directly to help those who are suffering.

We thank God that all our faithful in the St. Francisville Mission have been contacted and are well.

May the merciful Lord help all those effected by this storm!
