Ukase

I hereby express my condolences to the clergy and flock of the Diocese of Mid-America on the death of my senior colleague and teacher at Holy Trinity Theological Seminary, Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America, and I assume the administration of this diocese pending the appropriate conciliar action, with the heartfelt wish of Christ's consolation to all. As one who personally knew the deceased, I testify that he deeply appreciated, loved and, to the best of his ability, continued and expanded the legacy of our elders - the hierarchs, clergy and ascetics of the Russian Church Abroad, who handed down to us the heritage of the pre-revolutionary Russian Orthodox Church, our Mother Church, the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the twentieth century.

Dear Fathers, brothers and sisters in the Lord! With this address to you, I ask you all to unite in prayer for the deceased Vladyka Peter and to remember him with love and gratitude for all that he did for you.

I appoint the faithful, kind and devoted assistants and executors of His Eminence: Archpriest Gregory Joyce, Secretary of the Diocesan Administration, and Subdeacon Andrew Urtiew, as members of the commission to receive the property of the recently deceased, and the assistants appointed by them as organizers of His Eminence's funeral. The aforesaid commission shall begin its work after the fortieth day of Vladyka's death.

This ukase is hereby issued.
