On Thursday, June 30/July 13, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, visited the ORPR Diocesan Youth Camp in Rock City, Illinois. This was His Eminence’s first visit to a children’s camp since his election as Primate.

Metropolitan Nicholas was hosted by the ruling bishop of the Mid-American diocese, His Eminence Archbishop Peter. In addition to Metropolitan Nicholas and Archbishop Peter, Bishop John of Caracas & South America of Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, participated in the visit.

Having first familiarized himself with the internal workings and facilities of the ORPR camp, including the historic St. Vladimir Church that is located directly in the center of the camp, Metropolitan Nicholas had the opportunity to share a meal and interact with the participants and counselors of the camp.

Having bid farewell to the camp participants, Metropolitan Nicholas departed for a visit to the historic Holy Trinity Cathedral in Chicago.
